I Cannot Afford Lawyer-Kinfe Dagnew

In less than 24 hours from his arrest Major General Kinfe Dagnew was presented at the 10th Criminal Bench of Lideta Division along with other six defendants including his brother. 

While presenting his case to the court Kinfe Dagnaw told the court that his retirement salary is only 4000 Birr and asked the government to assign him a public defender. 

Another defendant who was presented at today’s hearing includes Kinfe Dagnew brother who is accused of awarding contracts while working at EthioTeleCom. Also, Artist Fitsum Yeshitela who had been working at EBC was also presented at court on corruption. 

From the total of 8 defendants two were accused of human right abuses while the rest are charged on corruption. The court hearing will proceed tomorrow.
