The Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund (EDTF) assigned a Board of Directors comprising 11 members from the Ethiopian Diaspora, Civil Society, and the Government.

 

The Board will comprise of eleven members drawn from the Ethiopian Diaspora, Civil Society, and the Government. Five members of the Ethiopian board were from different parts of the globe recommended by the EDTF Advisory Council, three members are from Civil Society groups representing women, youth and the Ethiopian public; and three members are from the Ethiopian Government.

These are the EDTF Board of Directors:

Hirut Zemene, State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Bilen Mamo, Advisor, Ministry of Finance, and Economic Cooperation.

Representing diaspora in North America, Dr. Mehret Mandefro, Founder and President, Truth Aid and Executive Producer, Director of Social Impact, Kana Television,

Representing diaspora in North America, Chernet Debele, Founder and General Manager, Kia Travel & Business LLC.

Representing diaspora in Europe, Sirgut Yadeta, Editorial Lead, Lloyds Bank Group. Representing diaspora in Africa, Yohannes Asefa, Director, Agriculture & Agribusiness, USAID East Africa Trade and Investment Hub.

Representing diaspora in the Middle East, Dr. Abdulwahab Ibrahim, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Technology, and Science.

Representing women, Sister Zebider Zewdie, Founder and Executive Director of Mary Joy Ethiopia.

Representing the Ethiopian public, Mr. EyesusWork Zafu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Bank.

Representing the Ethiopian Government, Selamawit Dawit, Director General, Ethiopian Diaspora Agency.

The representative of Youth to be reviewed and appointed by the Board.

According to the website of EDTF, The Board of directors is a governing body which will provide overall leadership and set the strategic direction, policy, oversight, and accountability of the EDTF, It will, among others, review and approve EDTF financed projects that are identified and vetted by the EDTF Secretariat.

H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed appointed an 18-member EDTF Advisory Council with a global mandate months ago. With key responsibilities of Mobilizing the Ethiopian Diaspora Community in the United States and globally to make financial contributions to the EDTF Account on a timely and sustained basis to ensure the realization of the EDTF objectives. The advisory board comprises the likes of Tamagn Beyene and Obang Metho.
