Electoral Board Requested 4 Billion ETB for Upcoming Election

In a press conference that was held today Ethiopia’s Electoral Board director Birtukan Mideksa presented a 4 billion birr budget request to conduct the upcoming election. The requested budget exceeds the previous election budget by eight folds. The electoral board is hoping to raise 900 million birr from international donors.

While addressing the timing of the election versus the country security situation. Birtukan Midekesa stated the board is caring out the planning according to 2020 schedule & highlighted the board is not mandated to decide the postponement of the election.

According to the board director currently there are 24 national & 44 regional parties that too their certificate.
