Ethiopia: As the US relation sours Europe takes a different approach

After the trade sanction, the US and Ethiopia’s relations went on a rocky patch following the current conflict in Ethiopia. presumably escalating the tension between the two countries.

The U.S. State Department on Friday urged all Americans to leave Ethiopia “as soon as possible,” according to a security alert posted on the website of the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa.

The State Department also warned Americans from traveling to the country on its travel advisory website, saying: “Do not travel to Ethiopia due to armed conflict, civil unrest, communications disruptions, crime, and the potential for terrorism and kidnapping in border areas.”

The State Department authorized the voluntary departure of non-emergency US government employees and family members of emergency and non-emergency employees from Ethiopia earlier.

In recent events, Ato Ahmed Shied, Minister of Finance held a discussion with the Ambassador of the EU delegation to Ethiopia, Mr. Roland Kobia on the Ethio-EU cooperation. advising ways to further strengthen the long-standing partnerships and pave ways to build more enhanced cooperation.

Germany vows to strengthen development cooperation in Ethiopia. A spokesman for the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, Jurgen Hart mentioned the German government had allocated 100 million euros for development projects in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia, a member of the Compact with Africa program that links Africa and Germany in trade, investment, and the private sector, is a major beneficiary of German development cooperation.

State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Redwan Hussien spoke with Vicky Ford, Minister for Africa, foreign commonwealth, and development affairs of the UK urged a political solution to the conflict with the TPLF forces.
