Members of the National Consultative Commission will be independent of any political party

House of Peoples’ Representatives Legal, Justice and Democracy Affairs Standing Committee Chairperson

Ms. Etsegenet made a statement regarding the proclamation of the National Consultative Commission, which was approved by a majority of the House of Peoples’ Representatives yesterday.

Eleven members of the commission said in a statement that they would be elected by the people and that the election would be approved by the House of Peoples’ Representatives.

It is stated that all Ethiopians will participate through their representatives.

According to Etsegenet, the National Consultative Commission will consult on major national issues and make recommendations.

She further added that the proposal was made to facilitate negotiations between the various parties.
