Twitter bans users who say they have “broken the law” in connection with the Ethiopian war
Twitter says it has blocked certain accounts in connection with the war in northern Ethiopia. Many accounts have been blocked, Twitter confirmed to the BBC English Service this afternoon.
The company said hundreds of Tigrayan supporters were among those banned. However, Twitter did not specify the size of the blocked account. The social media agency told the BBC that the move was “in violation of Twitter law, certain hashtags and Twitter pages, and the inclusion of unnecessary information in the post.”
The company said in a statement that it was “clearly focused on its accounts and content” and that it was “politically neutral and ideologically neutral.”
