# BREAKING – Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been elected as the country’s 10th president in a third round of presidential election. President-elect Hassan Sheikh Mohammed led the country before President Formajo. President Mohamed Formajo, who is running for a second term, lost the election.

Supporters greeted the result by cheering and firing guns in the air around the capital Mogadishu after three rounds of voting throughout the day by politicians in a heavily guarded airport hangar.
