St George’s became Betking Ethiopian Premier League champions

The exciting 2022 Betking Ethiopian Premier League ended with St. George’s win.

St. George, who played its final match of the year against Addis Ababa at the Bahir Dar International Stadium 10:00 am today, won the trophy by a wide margin of 4-0.

Ismail Oro Agoro scored the first goal in the 17th minute and in the 54th minute with a free kick, and Amanuel G. Michael scored in the 89th and 93rd minutes.

Following the victory, Giorgis won the trophy with 65 points.

Today’s unbeaten club, the 28th Ethiopian champions, has won the trophy for the 15th time since its inception.

Fasil Kenema, who narrowed the gap with Giorgis by winning the previous series of matches, lost to Dire Dawa at the same time today at Bahir Dar University.

Dire Dawa, who won 3-2 to Fasil Kenema, were able to stay in the Premier League.

Fasil Kenema, who finished second in the league with 61 points and 4 points ahead of Giorgis, was leading the game until the 77th minute. However, Dire Dawa City’s Gadissa Mebrate survived in the 77th minute, Henok Ayele in the 85th minute and Abdurahman Mubarak in the 88th minute.

In another match played at the Emperor Tewodros Stadium, Adama defeated Hawassa City 3-0. Hawassa lost its chance to win a bronze medal. As a result, Sidama Bunna has secured the third place in the league with their remaining match against Hadiya Hossaina tomorrow.
