Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — April 25, 2025 – In a move aimed at accelerating digital literacy and workforce development in Ethiopia, Weyra Academy has announced the launch of a 6-week web development course beginning May 26, 2025. The program is designed to equip beginners with the foundational skills needed to build websites and pursue careers in tech — a sector that continues to gain momentum across the region.

The course will be available in two formats: online (6,000 ETB) and in-person (9,000 ETB). Participants will learn core web development technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while building real-world projects for their portfolios.

“We’re addressing a growing demand for practical, job-ready digital skills,” said a spokesperson from Weyra Academy. “Our goal is to empower individuals from all backgrounds to participate in the tech economy — whether they’re career switchers, students, or entrepreneurs.”

The academy has also announced that top-performing students will be considered for internship opportunities with its network of partner companies, further strengthening the course’s value proposition.

Weyra Academy’s initiative comes amid increasing interest in the digital sector in Ethiopia, where both the private and public sectors are investing in innovation and IT infrastructure. By focusing on accessibility and outcomes, Weyra hopes to position itself as a key player in East Africa’s emerging tech talent ecosystem.

Enrollment is now open via www.weyra.io, and limited slots are available.
