ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s capital just gained a new global landmark in hospitality. DoubleTree by Hilton has officially opened in Addis Ababa, marking the brand’s first hotel in the country and the second Hilton-branded property in the city. Built at a cost of 700 million Birr, the project took 13 years to complete — a major milestone in the evolution of Ethiopia’s hospitality sector.

A Prime Airport Location

Situated just minutes from Bole International Airport and close to Millennium Hall, the hotel is strategically positioned for both international travelers and local guests. With 105 modern guest rooms, DoubleTree offers convenience and luxury right at the gateway to Ethiopia.

Guests can enjoy rooftop dining with panoramic views, making it a standout feature for those seeking a relaxing meal with a scenic backdrop. For added convenience, the hotel also provides a complimentary airport shuttle, simplifying travel for business and leisure visitors.

World-Class Amenities

DoubleTree by Hilton Addis Ababa blends global standards with local touches. Key amenities include:

  • Free WiFi and EV charging stations
  • Fitness center, spa, and wellness facilities
  • On-site restaurant & rooftop bar serving traditional and international cuisine
  • Meeting rooms and a state-of-the-art conference hall for business travelers
  • Concierge and room service for personalized experiences
  • Free parking and non-smoking rooms for added comfort

With its modern facilities, the hotel is built to host conferences, corporate gatherings, and leisure travelers alike.

Jobs and Local Empowerment

At a press briefing on August 27, 2025, General Manager Abere Amsalu highlighted the hotel’s strong local impact. The project, occupying 1,050 square meters, has created 160 jobs, all filled by Ethiopian nationals. This, Abere noted, sets the property apart as a Hilton brand deeply invested in empowering local talent.

Ethiopia’s Rising Tourism & Business Hub

The opening underscores Addis Ababa’s growing reputation as a regional hub for diplomacy, business, and tourism. With Hilton’s global brand recognition, the DoubleTree strengthens the city’s ability to attract high-value international visitors while supporting Ethiopia’s broader push to expand its hospitality and investment landscape.

As Ethiopia continues to modernize its infrastructure, the arrival of DoubleTree by Hilton represents both a symbol of global confidence in the country and a boost for its long-term tourism ambitions.
