Ethiopian Airlines to Launch New Lyon Service via Geneva

Addis Ababa, 06 January 2026Ethiopian Airlines has announced plans to introduce a new passenger service to Lyon, France, via Geneva, beginning 02 July 2026. The thrice-weekly operation will further deepen the carrier’s footprint in France, complementing its existing services to Paris and Marseille.

With the addition of Lyon, Ethiopian Airlines will expand its French network to three destinations, enhancing travel options for passengers and strengthening air links between Europe and Africa through seamless connections across its global network.

Commenting on the launch, Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said the new route underscores the airline’s long-standing commitment to France. “Lyon’s inclusion strengthens our European network and builds on more than five decades of connecting France with Africa and beyond. The service will support trade, tourism, and people-to-people ties while offering customers smooth onward connections across our worldwide destinations,” he noted.

Ethiopian Airlines continues to position itself as a key bridge between Europe and Africa, providing access to more than 65 African destinations with a young, fuel-efficient fleet. The carrier has recently added new routes across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia as part of its ongoing global expansion.
