MIDROC Investment Group has inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art UHT (Ultra-High Temperature) milk processing factory today.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abebe, MIDROC Investment Group CEO Mr. Jemal Ahmed, and other high-ranking officials.
The new facility enables milk to be stored for up to six months without refrigeration while maintaining its quality. It is expected to significantly boost the production capacity of the long-standing Shola Milk brand and improve its accessibility to consumers.
During the event, Mayor Adanech Abebe noted that the factory will play a vital role in saving foreign currency by substituting imports, while also creating numerous job opportunities. She emphasized its importance in distributing the popular Shola Milk products to various regions and addressing the milk supply shortage.
CEO Mr. Jemal Ahmed added that the factory will increase the volume of milk collected from farmers, thereby enhancing their livelihoods.
During the ceremony, select dairy cow breeds, cash prizes, and certificates of recognition were awarded to farmers who have consistently supplied high-quality milk.
The new factory’s products—including Shola Milk, various types of cheese, and ice cream—will be available at affordable prices through Queens Supermarket and the company’s retail outlets.
