Between 150 and 200 Addis Ababa University students protested against the alleged massacre of Amharas in the Oromia region on Saturday morning.

Two students who took part in the protest told DW that federal police had previously received information that students were going to protest, and that they had “abducted” several students from the main campus. “There is no Ethiopia where death is prospering, we want to be treated like any other nation and live equally,”  they said.

“We have not used anything against the law,” Countering the statement that the demonstration was violent.

“There are many people injured in police beating. There are now three or four students at the hospital on Yekatit 12. They have been severely beaten,” said one student. Federal and Addis Ababa police officers were also seen in large numbers.
Following the incident, an image & video posted on social media showed federal police beating university students, and students screamed.
