Five NGOs Obtain 5.9Mill from Diaspora Trust Fund

The Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund (EDTF) has released the first funds for five projects amounting to 5.9 million birr.

The funding, which will be made in four installments, was awarded to NGOs that work with children improving the learning environment, hygiene and sanitation, and focusing on special education, persons with disabilities, and promotion of safe water Supply.

The Advisory Council of the Fund approved the release of the funds on August 9, 2020, after a final round of thorough inspection of the projects and the applicant organizations.

According to the council, the projects were selected after a rigorous review of the project’s sustainability, potential impact, scalability, innovation, and creativity, cost efficiency (value for money), accountability, and transparency were evaluated.

The total first quarter installment of the project funds amounting to 5.9 million birr was transferred directly to the Bank accounts of the implementing organizations.

Korah Great Hope Charity Organization, Hiwot Integrated Development Organization, Gurmuu Development Association, and Help for -Organization are the Fund’s five selected organizations to receive the money.

The projects, which will be implemented in two years, will be undertaken in Oromia, Amhara, Afar and Tigray regional states, as well as in Addis Abeba.

The Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund (EDTF) is a non-profit organization established to mobilize the global Diaspora community responding to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s call for 1 dollar a day to support critical unmet needs in Ethiopia.
