Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki will make his third visit to Ethiopia in less than 6 months since the two countries smoothed their relation. According to Fana BC this time the President will be specifically heading to Amhara region on Friday following the regional government invitation to visit historic towns of Gondar and Bahir Dar.

The president has already visited Oromia and Southern Nation Nationalities region in his last visits. His upcoming visit to Amhara region raises some concern due to the confrontation between Amhara and Tigray region while Eritrea being historically and geographically more close to Tigray region.

Following President Isaias first visit to Ethiopia, PM Dr. Abiy made a statement that addresses his security concerns for not inviting
President Isaias to visit the Tigray region.
