Betty G is among the AFRIMA Awards 2018 top contenders with 6 nominations. She is nominated for the 5th AFRIMA Awards in categories of Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Female Artist East Africa, Best Artist Duo in African Jazz, Best Artist Group in African Rock and Revelation of African Continent.
She is nominated for album of the year for her second album “Wegegta” released about two months ago. Her first debut album “Manew Fitsum” particularly her hit single “Yekelekilal” was well received.
Betty G has collaborated with international artists including US jazz great Tomas Doncker, legendary Nigerian reggae artiste Ras Kimono and Cameroonian music group: X-Maleya. She appeared on Coke Studio Africa season 4.
Ethiopian artists Hamelmal Abate and Henok and Mehari Brothers took home Best African Traditional Artist, and Best Male Artist (East Africa) awards (respectively), at last year’s AFRIMA Awards.
