In an official ceremony attended by several African Ambassador and key Ethiopian government officials, the country has formally launched its visa on arrival service for all citizens from Africa. During the ceremony African Union chairperson Musa Faqi expressed his delight mentioning the importance of the decision in strengthening Panafricanism.
Musa Faqi also extended his gratification to PM Abiy for taking a decisive action in not only implementing the visa on arrival service but also taking a lead in accelerating Pan-Africanism ever since he took power. According to the chairperson, the visa on arrival programme is part of the AU 2063 agenda.
Deputy foreign affairs minister W/Zero Hirut Zemene also stressed out that Ethiopia will not compromise in leading its effort to strengthen Africa’s agenda. While the decision is set to improve the economic activities of the region.
The other speaker who took the stage was Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebremariam according to the CEO the move will create more opportunity for Africa’s leading airline. Ethiopia will join countries like Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Ghana, and Seychelles to become among few lists of countries in Africa that are already giving visa on arrival service for Africans.
