Ato Nigus Tilahun Appointed as Press Secretary for The PM Office

Ato Nigus Tilahun who is the deputy administrator for the culture and tourism office of the Amhara region has been appointed as press secretary for the PM Office.  Prior to his tourism post-Ato, Nigus has served the Amhara Regional Administration Communication Office for several years.

Though there has been no official statement coming from the PM Office, the news has already been reported by Amhara Mass Media Agency. The appointment will replace Billene Seyoum who has been serving as Press Secretary for the past two months. Also, Deputy Press Secretary Helen Yosef was replaced by Ato Kasahun Gofe.

It is not yet clear why the PM Office replaced the Press Secretary but the appointment of Billene Seyoum was followed by controversy related to her citizenship. Followed by a social media storm of controversy following her statement on how she would like to be addressed.
