Oromia President Lemma Megeressa along with and Amhara regional state president Degu Andragachew visited the Netherlands with the aim of being familiarized with Dutch companies that are active in Ethiopia. According to the Netherlands comprehensive website since 2004, a lot of Dutch companies started investments and joint ventures in Ethiopia. About 130 companies have created 70,000 direct job opportunities.
Most of the companies are working on agricultural sectors such as flower, vegetables, sesame, and dairy production. According to the Netherlands worldwide “support is provided to the development of several promising subsectors, like poultry, potato, soy, spices, and aquaculture, through the development coöperation project Ethiopian Netherlands Trade for Agricultural Growth (ENTAG), implemented by Wageningen University.”

Most of trade and aid activities of Netherlands takes place in Oromo and Amhara regions of Ethiopia. The visit of state presidents of Amhara and Oromo Gedu Andargachew and Lemma Megersa respectively helps to discuss challenges on international investment and strengthens the economic coöperation of the two countries.
