New Jersey Senator and Democrat Presidential Runner Cory Booker announced Ethio-Canadian Addisu Demissie as his campaign manager for his run for the Democratic presidential nomination 2020.
Adissu Demissie is the Vice President and Director of Grassroots Advocacy. He graduated from Yale University and Yale Law School, and a member of the State Bar of California. His decades of experience in politics, campaign management and strategy for the national, state, and local level for electoral, nonprofit, and corporate clients made him a preferable guy for the job.
Addisu cofounded San Francisco based political consulting group 50+1, and he served as Campaign Manager for Senator Cory Booker’s successful election campaign in 2013, and as Communications Director for President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors David Chiu’s campaign for Mayor. He also managed California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s campaign last year and worked as National Voter Outreach and Mobilization Director on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.
With Addisu Demissie Booker’s top two advisors Matt Klapper and Modia Butler will also hold high positions in the Cory 2020 campaign. Klapper, Booker’s chief of staff for the last four years, will be a senior advisor; Butler, who was Booker’s chief of staff at Newark City Hall and his state director in the U.S. Senate, will be a senior strategist.
