Somali Region Extradited Hassan Dere a Former Prison Officer at Jail Ogaden

Hassan Ismael Ibrahim aka Hassan Dere, a former prison officer at Somali region was arrested in Somalia and extradited to Jigjiga. Hassan Dere was arrested at a border town of Goldgob following a tip from local residents to security officers.

During his tenure as a prison officer, Hassan is known for torturing severals, and his torture techniques range from waterboarding to electrocution and jailing prisoners with wild animals.

Hassan Dere was among the 40 former officials that were convicted for gross human right violation in the region, and he is expected to be transferred to Addis for his trial where he will join former Somali regional president Abdi Illey.
