The Ethiopian Public Health Institute declares the decision to put all passengers from Wuhan, China, into quarantine. The institute has given a press release today on the current status of Coronavirus and prevention activities being implemented in Ethiopia.

Dr. Ebba Abate, director of Ethiopian Public Health Institute, said the established command post has regularly been working to prevent coronavirus infection. He added that every passenger from Wuhan would immediately be transferred to a quarantine center, and they would be provided with necessary medical attention.

Wuhan is the city where the Coronavirus had an outbreak. China had shut down and isolated the town as a measure to control the deadly virus. Wuhan is the capital of Hubei, central china province, with a population of more than 11 million. It is an essential center for economy, trade, finance, transportation, information technology, and education in China.

Two weeks ago, four people from Wuhan suspected of the infection of the virus, and they had quarantined in a quarantine center at Bole. But the four suspects diagnosed negative after their sample sent to South Africa.

According to the release of the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, the institute had received 29 indications of the infection so far. After diagnosis, 14 of them had shown signs of infection. And they had transferred to quarantine. Eleven results turned out negative after samples sent to South Africa. And three results are pending.

The death toll topped 600, and according to reports among 73 new deaths, 69 are from Hubei province, and 64 cases are specifically from its capital Huhan.

Ethiopia had not owned equipment to make an overall medical diagnosis of coronavirus. But Dr.Ebba said that materials had been shipped, and the detection will begin domestically as soon as they arrive.

In Africa, there is no reported Coronavirus infection. Countries halted flights to and from China as a prevention technique. While Ethiopian Airlines had released a statement last week defending China flight choosing to follow other prevention methods instead.
