Ethiopia Investment Commission Commissioner Abebe Abebayehu Resigns

Ethiopia Investment Commission Commissioner, Abebe Abebayehu resigned from his post after his resignation letter got an approval. The commissioner has been serving the EIC for the past two years. His appointment comes right after the former EIC commissioner Ato Fitsum Arega, moved to the USA to serve has Ethiopia’s ambassador.

The news first broke on the Reporter Amharic website and hinted at the Industrial Parks CEO Lelisa Neme as a potential replacement for the post.

Abebe, a lawyer by training has more than a decade of experience working on private sector development, economic policy, and regulatory reform, negotiations of international trade and investment agreements, academic research, and teaching.

In college, he finished top of his class and received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award from the Addis Abeba University. Abebe has LL.M in International Trade and Investment Law from the University of Western Cape, South Africa and LL.M in Energy Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom, both of which he finished with distinction.
