The  Federal Documents Authentication and Registration Agency (DARA) is set to build a new headquarter at the cost of 1.6 billion birr.

The 25-story building that will be built by Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation will rest on a 2758 sqm plot of land located in front of Mexico square.

When completed in the next four years the new building will help the Agency save close to 40 million birr that it spends on rent annually.

The Agency established in 1987, had given the task of building the headquarter to the Ministry of Urban Development and Construction.

The Ministry under its wing of The Federal Government Building Construction Project Office then outsourced the task to the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation, a public enterprise.

A memorandum of understanding that officially enabled the commencement of the project was signed yesterday October 5, 220 between the project office and the Corporation.

At the ceremony Ayisha Mohammed minister of Urban Development and Construction stated that the Agency, that has 15 branches including one in Dire Dewa City Administration  was facing huge costs every year as it didn’t own its building

The Agency with its current HQ also located around Mexico Square is responsible for authenticating power of attorney documents, registering and validating rental, sale and loan contracts, and keep track of memorandum of associations.

The Agency serves around 6000 customers a day. In the past fiscal year, it collected 510 million Br serving 1.4 million customers both in-person and online.
