The Creative Hub Ethiopia is launching its interdisciplinary Open Call today to the public, asking all creatives from various sectors to submit applications until March 1st, 2021. The categories eligible for admission are leather, textile, ICT, industrial & product design as well as fashion. In this first open call, 50 applicants will be selected by a jury of experts from the creative industry and admitted to the hub’s program.Selected applicants will be given access to the venue, where they will be able to bring ideas to life, learn innovative techniques to enhance skills, connect with fellow creatives, and increase the quality of products through capacity building. The state-of-the-art venue is soon to open its doors in Addis Ababa.
The space is an envisioned platform that offers services and spaces to designers, entrepreneurs, startups, and freelancers to share design knowledge, develop business skills, and spread innovation, with fully equipped digital library, rapid prototyping services like 3D printing, mock-up labs, meeting rooms, space for events, co-working space, and cafeteria.
Initiated by UNIDO and Federal Small and Medium Manufacturing Industries Promotion Authority (FeSMMIPA) and funded from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the Creative Hub is being implemented by the first tech-startup, iceaddis, and African Mosaique, the first fashion incubator in Ethiopia – both being pioneers in their sector.The Creative Hub will be the first of its kind in Ethiopia, offering a wide range of services to the domestic creative industry through focused and thematic technical support, innovation seminars, lectures and workshops, training, prototyping techniques, cultural events as well as networking sessions.The hub will open to the public with three levels of subscriptions, where members will be able to enjoy the facilities with affordable package deals.
