Ethiopian gov’t retakes Dessie

Ethiopia’s military this week regained control of territory previously claimed by Tigrayan rebels, a potential validation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s decision to join soldiers to conflict-hit areas.

Following with the recent liberation of many areas in Afar and Amhara region,the special operation undertook by the government enabled to clear out Gashena, a strategic area to liberate states around it.

And now with unprecedented victory, “The historic city of Dessie and the commercial and industrial corridor of Kombolcha have been liberated by a coalition of brave security forces,” announced Government  communications service.

The Ethiopian security forces, led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, liberated Bati, Kersana, Gerban and Degan from the eastern fronts in addition to Dessie and Kombolcha, while the Harbu Front took full control of the woreda.
