Following the restoration of the war in northern Ethiopia, the Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Belete Molla, announced that France would continue the Lalibela Church Renovation Project.

The signs of progress on the restoration work of the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela were postponed due to the Ethiopian Tigray’s war after the location was controlled by the TPLF in the current conflict in Ethiopia. Just yesterday the Ethiopian government announced the national defense force took over the control of the sacred place of Lalibela.

French Ambassador to Ethiopia Remi Marchuwek has announced that France will continue the Lalibela Churches restructuring project after the war in northern Ethiopia is calming. In an interview with the Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Belete Molla, the Ambassador also stated that France is a friend of Ethiopia and will continue its partnership.

He expressed hope that the project would begin soon after Lalibela was liberated from the terrorist group.
