More than 1.8 million people have beenMore than 1.8 million people displaced by TPLF invasion of Afar and Amhara regions – PM’s Office displaced and millions more are in need of emergency food aid in the TPLF-occupied Afar and Amhara regions, according to Bilene Seyoum, head of the Prime Minister’s Office Press Office.

The head of the Press Secretariat of the Prime Minister’s Office briefed the international media on the current situation in the country and related issues. The statement said that humanitarian aid planes were flying to Mekelle and that 203 aid trucks had recently arrived in Mekelle.

The press secretary said that the TPLF had carried out large-scale massacres and rapes in the areas invaded by the TPLF. She also said that innocent people have been killed in the past in Amhara and Afar regions, adding that they have raped women and caused severe damage to property. However, she noted that the international community’s focus on humanitarian assistance was limited to the Tigray region and that the neglect of the Afar and Amhara regions had political implications. She also noted that there were 900 vehicles that remain in Tigray in which TPLF is using the vehicles transport the militants.

On the other hand, 30 trucks loaded with more than 5,000 different types of food were transported to Gashena and Lalibela areas. In Afar State, about 400,000 people have been displaced from 17 woredas by TPLF, and 64,000 quintals of food has reached the displaced.
