Restraints on flights arriving from Ethiopia and 11 other African nations will be lifted on Saturday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities stated.

LAST DECEMBER, the UAE had forwarded a travel restriction on passenger flights from Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) mentioned that the directive, which took effect December 25, was because of the rising concerns related to the spread of the omicron COVID-19 variant.

The changes will come into effect at 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 29.

Other countries affected by the lift include Tanzania, the Republic of Congo, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

According to the new regulations, travelers will be required to hold a negative COVID-19 PCR test 48 hours before departure and a negative rapid-PCR test at the departure airport.

Those traveling from Ghana, Uganda, and Rwanda will also take the three tests. Passengers will also be tested on arrival.
