A unit of Tis Abay 2 power plant has been repaired and put into operation

Addis Ababa: January 30, 2014 (FBC) Dejene Guta, General Manager of the Tis Abay 2 hydroelectric power plant, which has been in disrepair for more than eight years, has completed its work and has started producing 25 megawatts of energy.

According to the official, the unit has been out of operation for more than eight years due to siltation and turbine failure due to sulfur discharge.

According to Shumet Belaw, the leader of the repair team and the manager of the Fincha power station, work has been done to repair the fault of the turbine shaft, lift the rotor, adjust the turbine, automatic voltage control and other works.

He also recalled that work was carried out to divert a draft tube door using diving swimmers.

He said the work has been completed successfully by installing 25 megawatts yesterday.

The Tis Abay 2 hydroelectric power plant was started in 1993 with a capacity of ÷ 72 megawatts.
