Ethiopia government to increase military budget by 500%

The Ministry of Finance has prepared a total budget of 785 billion birr for 2022/2023 and submitted it to the Council of Ministers, The Reporter reported.

According to the report, $ 100 billion has been allocated to the Defense Forces from this draft budget. This year, 22 billion birr has been allocated to the Defense Forces.

With the government’s new draft budget, budget offices have been cut by up to 40 percent. Expected 64 billion birr from foreign sources has not been completed yet, and the government intends to cover the budget deficit from domestic sources.
