Popular Tigrigna singer Dawit Nega has died. Dawit Nega was hospitalized three days ago at Addis Hiwot Clinic.

Dawit released his full album, Axumwit, in Tigrinya. Baba Elen, Zewidero, Wezamzai, Chokolata, Ajokhi Tigray, Desibeleni’lo, and St. Tsebaya are his most popular singles .Artist Dawit Nega  music is very popular among those non-Tigregna speakers as well. He was among the few Ethiopian artists who represented his country on international music platforms such as Coke Studio Africa.

His music clips has received over 40 millions of views & he was among the new generation of Tigray artists that blended modernity with culture. His impact has led several young Tigrigna artists to dominate the music scene.

Several of his fans gathered at Addis Hiwot Hospital to express their grief. Before his passing Dawit Nega last work was titled Gezana.

Funeral service for vocalist David Nega will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 2:00 Pm at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church in the presence of his family, friends and admirers.
