A video of a mass murder of a mob on social media

The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has investigated a video on social media of a massacre of several people who were brought on a track. The  extra-judicial killings shown in the video were reported by EHRC on March 11, 2022.

The commission further noted that this was one of the events in its report entitled “Investigation Report on Human Rights Violations in the Afar and Amhara Regions of Ethiopia”.

Based on information gathered by eyewitnesses and field observers from the EHRC investigation report, the incident took place in December 2022 in Dewa Chafa Woreda, Oromo Special Administration Zone, Amhara State. Completion of the first week (date not specified):

According to the report, government security forces shot and killed at least 30 members of the OLF Shen, who had been brought in by two trucks.

After further inspection and technical inspection by EHRC, the technical inspection of the area identified by the field inspection and the location of the imager, as well as technical inspections to compare and verify the location of the imagery; The above-mentioned evidence proves to be further evidence of extrajudicial killings in the EHRC investigation.

Therefore, EHRC reiterates its call for a full criminal investigation in accordance with its previous recommendations.
