Ambassador Meles Alem has been appointed Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director General of Emergency Management

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Dina Mufti has been appointed Director General of Public Diplomacy.

He was replaced by Meles Alem, who has served as Ethiopia’s ambassador to Kenya for three years.

“We have heard from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Meles Alem has received a letter of appointment signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen,” said.

The sources added that the current spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dina Muftu, has been appointed Director General of Public Diplomacy.

Prior to his appointment as Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya, the Seychelles and the Comoros, Meles served as Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
