Amhara National Movement (NAMA) House of Representatives candidates have walked out of the House of Peoples’ Representatives today. The party’s representative, Desalegn Chane, said the council had asked the speaker to first discuss the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Amhara people in Oromia and other parts of the country.

However, the Speaker of the House, Tagesse Tchafo, said that the House could not discuss an unresolved agenda, and that he rejected the request, adding that party candidates, including Desalegn Chane, had walked out of the meeting.

The agenda of the House of Peoples’ Representatives is to hear and discuss the Federal Government’s financial statements for the fiscal year 2013, financial accounting audits and performance audits. The Federal Auditor General reports to the House on federal government audit reports.
