Teddy Yo Arrested: Ethiopian Rapper Jailed for New Song

Teddy Yo, the Ethiopian rap artist and pioneer of the country’s rap scene, was arrested today after the release of his latest controversial song about Addis Ababa,titled Wonberesh.

The song, which has caused outrage among some members of the government officials, addresses issues of corruption and social injustice in the city. 

Teddy Yo, whose real name is Teddy Assefa, has been a prominent figure in the Ethiopian rap scene for over a decade. He rose to fame with his hit single “Gurage Tone,” which celebrated rich culture and history.

However, his latest release was expected to cause a stir among authorities. The lyrics of the song, which have been widely circulated online, have been described as bold. 

Teddy Yo’s arrest has sparked a debate about freedom of expression and the role of art in society. Many of his fans have spoken out in support of Teddy Yo, stating that he has the right to express himself freely.
