Ethio Telecom, in partnership with Siinqee Bank, has announced a major initiative aimed at accelerating digital and financial inclusion across Ethiopia. Under the new program, Ethio Telecom will provide two million smartphones each year through long-term, affordable payment plans, focusing particularly on underserved and rural communities.

The initiative, supported by an annual budget of 4 billion birr, is designed to make smartphone ownership more accessible to low-income citizens. By improving smartphone penetration, the program aims to equip more Ethiopians with the digital tools and skills necessary to engage fully in the digital economy.

Siinqee Bank is a critical partner in the initiative, providing the financial backing and infrastructure needed to implement the long-term financing model. The smartphone initiative is part of a broader partnership between Ethio Telecom and Siinqee Bank, which includes a total commitment of 15 billion birr toward mobile financial services and device financing projects.
