The Holy Synod has passed a decision revoking the authority of 26 Copates of Episcopate appointed by Abba Sawiros, Abba Eustathius, and Abba Zena Markos. The church stated that this appointment was made in violation of the church canon and that it was confirmed by statements given by social and broadcast media.

The Holy Synod has declared that this act constitutes treason and sectarianism, deceiving the Christian people living in the country and abroad. As a result, the Holy Synod has separated and revoked the full priesthood authority of Abba Sawiros, Abba Eustathius, and Abba Zena Markos and they will be called by their former worldly names from now on.

In addition, during spiritual services, the Holy Synod has condemned them not to receive any spiritual service in life or death and they have been separated from the church. Furthermore, the Plenary Assembly of the Holy Synod has decided to appoint new abbots to lead the monastery of Meskaye Khzunan as well as for other dioceses such as Southwest Shoa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda, Ilu Ababora and Benedele Diocese, Minnesota and its surroundings in North America, and Guji, West Guji, and Borna Liban zones.

The Holy Synod stated that if the individuals who have been condemned by name repent for their violation of the canon and ask for forgiveness, the doors of mercy of the Holy Church are always open and they will be accepted according to the canon.
