Government’s Plan to Reorganize Special Forces Met with Resistance In Amhara Region

On April 6, 2023, the Government Communication Service released a statement regarding the reorganization of regional special forces to improve the training, armament, and living conditions of the country’s army. The government’s objective is to integrate members of the special forces into other security structures such as the state police, federal police, or national defense forces according to their choice and need.

However, there have been false rumors and misleading information spread about the reorganization program, particularly in the Amhara region. Some have claimed that the program is only being carried out in the Amhara region or that the special forces will be disarmed without disarming the PKK. These false agendas are being pushed by individuals who seek to disrupt the process.

The government has urged the entire population, as well as leaders and members of the regional special forces, to work together to ensure the success of the program by avoiding the spread of misleading information. The government has also made it clear that if any member of the special forces does not want to be included in the process, their rights will be protected, and they will be able to enter into normal civilian life.

Despite the government’s efforts, reports from journalists such as Gobeze Sisay and Messy Mekonen suggest that the disarmament process has encountered resistance in some areas. In particular, a leader of the Amhara Special Forces Command reported that 96 Amhara Special Forces deployed in Korum, Ofla, and Zata took their weapons and disappeared because they refused to disarm. Two members were reportedly killed due to a dispute over the order to disarm. Meanwhile, the people of Korum, Ofla, and Zata are appealing to the special forces not to leave their shadow.

Passengers traveling from Woldia to Bahardar have also reportedly been stopped by security forces who refuse to allow them to enter Gondar or Bahardar on the train. While the situation on the ground is changing rapidly, the Defense Forces and special forces of the federal police have been deployed in several areas and are ready to disarm the Amhara special forces.

  1. These so-called regional forces were conceived and created by those bigoted individuals in leadership roles as tools to sustain their despotic rule over harmonious people. They have become magnets and dens for those gripped with deadly hatred for others. Those who founded them did that as grandstanding to appease other ethnic groups but for the wrong and hideous reasons. It did not take them too long to challenge the federal forces and assume they are just as equal or have more authority in their regions, It was a dangerous setup waiting for the right moment to explode. That was proven in the demise of hundreds of thousands of young people in Tigray. When I think it was absolutely avoidable that just makes me very sad and upset. The only way Tigres would be effectively protected is by the combined(federal) forces made up of the entire 80 groups of people. The same goes for Amharas, Oromos, Sidamas, Somalis, Afars, Gambellas, Benishanguls and every other ethnic group of people. I’m sure you do not want me to give you a reference as a proof. If you do just start with the much touted TPLF forces(rag tags) which were told until it deafened us that were made up of an invincible ‘gold’ race. Some of you may try to justify these regional forces comparing them with what we have here in USA called National Guard. Please stop making fools of yourselves. That is tantamount to comparing apples to oranges. I say dismantle these instruments(dens) of bigots particularly in Amhara and Oromo regions and send those bigoted elements home.

  2. Having said that, I will personal hold all those leaders on all sides equally accountable if a single young man/woman loses his/her Allah created life in a stupid conflict ignited by utterly stupid individuals. If this rhetoric goes out of hand and conflict erupts I will do something I’ve never done before. I will send a letter to the ICC at The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for the leaders of both sides and bus their blood craving asses into jail for life. When will these niggers who are the same like me learn a lesson from past stupid wars that resulted in untold deaths and destruction? Tens of millions of lives have been lost since 1974 due to the direct consequences of absolutely avoidable conflicts. Just recently the conflict in the north has cost the lives of close to a million citizens. Damn, damn, damn you niggers!!!!!
