The Ministry of Education has announced a remedial program that offers hope to students who missed the cutoff point to join universities. Last week, the Ministry disclosed that natural science students who scored below 263 for men and 227 for women, and social science students with scores below 220 for men and 190 for women, are eligible for the program. Meanwhile, the 29,909 students who scored above the cutoff point will directly join higher education institutions.

Last month, the Ministry released the results for national examinations, revealing that only 3.3 percent of the nearly one million students who took the exam scored above 50 percent. The Ministry also stated that entrance points to universities would not be lowered, leaving 866,611 students in a difficult situation. This figure is less than a quarter of the 152,000 students who were admitted to the 42 public universities as first-year students last year.

It is worth noting that there are 47 public universities with a budget allocation of over 61 billion Br for the year, with an additional 33 billion Br covering recurrent expenditures.
