Police beaten Temesgen Desalegn infront of his family

Temesgen Desalegn, editor-in-chief of Justice Magazine, was beaten today at the police station where he is being held.  

His brother, Tariku Desalegn, told Deutsche Welle that, as usual, he had been beaten by police in front of his family members at the Third Police Station.

According to Tariku “Temesgen has been reported to have suffered an ear injury during his previous detention.  Two police officers began punching and kicking him in the presence of other prisoners and interrogators .”

After being beaten by the police in front of his family the police took Journalist Temesgen to another room & his family were expelled from the area.

 

Later on Tariku met once again with Temesgen & witnessed a bruise on Temesgen left eye & his cloth was torn. Temesgen asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture and that his confession.  

 

Journalist Temesgen Desalegn also reported on the beatings in front of witnesses today to human rights organizations and his lawyer.  Journalist Temesgen Desalegn was taken from his office near the Adwa Bridge on May 26, 2022.  He has been in court for the second time since his arrest and has been given an alternative date of June 6, 2022, pending further investigation.
