Facebook Introduces Program To Support Small Businesses In Ethiopia

Summer Media, Addis Ababa-based media firm, has launched a program, “Boost with Facebook,” to provide free training for small businesses aiming to support their digital business expansion.
The program, organized in partnership with Facebook, aims to train 1,500 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Ethiopia on using digital tools and technologies to reach new customers on social media.
“The training includes 90 minute long Instructor-led live webinar sessions featuring presentations, lectures, Q&As, and virtual discussions,” said Frezer Tesfahun, CEO of Summer Media.
Additionally, the program scheduled Facebook/Instagram live sessions to feature business owners, entrepreneurs, and startups, providing seminars and talks on various topics.
Commenting on the program, Frezer Tesfahun added, “Summer Media is committed to supporting the expansion of social media as a tool for community growth and development.”
He added, “as the world faces the COVID-19 Pandemic, we believe this program will equip SMEs with the skills needed to elevate their business presence on Facebook.”
Launched for the first time in Ethiopia the first, a week-long session of the program will begin on October 1, 2020.
The program reached 11 African countries, including Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, and Kenya. It continues expanding to Burkina Faso, Mali, Gabon, Congo Brazzaville, and Ethiopia this month.
Boost with Facebook provides learning and skills development for small and micro enterprises to thrive in the digital economy.
The program houses and organizes many services, resources, and training pieces that provide learning and skills development for SMEs, empowering them to thrive in a digital economy across Facebook’s family of apps and services.
The program kicked off in Africa in 2017 and has seen over 80,000 small businesses trained across the continent.
