St. Yared’s massive project worth over 3 billion birr has been announced.

St. Yared is known to be the country’s first composer and philosopher. However, this great Ethiopian scholar has no permanent record of his name and contribution.

As a result, the Debre Hawi St. Yared Unity Monastery Building Committee, which is recognized by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, has unveiled the massive project of St. Yared. The committee issued a press statement today regarding the project.
The project will cost more than 3 billion birr and will enable the construction of the St. Yared Research and Tourism Center.

Upon completion, the project is expected to raise awareness among Ethiopians about the past of Ethiopia and the future of Ethiopia. The statement also said that the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church will help to redeem the golden age in which it owes its generosity to Ethiopia and Ethiopianness.

In addition, the church is built in its name and content, which is suitable for his works of art and can serve as a model for other churches.
It will also build a center of excellence for the study of history, philosophy, aesthetics and performance based on its general works, including St. Yared’s five hymns and compositions. It is also stated that a museum and a library will be built for the preservation of the artefacts and artifacts of St. Yared’s works.
On June 19, 2014, the Committee announced that it would hold an official project promotion and fundraising event at the Eliana Hotel.
