Rophnan announced a contract signing with Universal Records. Rophnan will become the first Ethiopan artist major artist to sign contract with universal records.The artist shared the news on his social media.

Universal Music Group N.V. is a Dutch–American multinational music corporation. UMG’s corporate headquarters are located in Hilversum, Netherlands and its operational headquarters are located in Santa Monica, California. The record company previously signed major artists like Marvin Gaye,Bob Marley,Amy Whinehouse, Eminem & many others.

Rophnan has also set his album release date to be July 11. The only Ethiopian artist who signed to major label is Aster Aweke was first in the late 1980’s with Columbia Records.
