Ethiopian Parliament Member Demand Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s Resignation
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was asked to resign during the 28th regular session of the 2nd year of the 6th House of People’s Representatives. In his speech, Dessalen Chane (Dr.), a council member on behalf of Abiy, asked Abiy Ahmed to resign and hand over his power to a civilian administration and dissolve the parliament.
Desalegn (Dr.) said that the government and the failed leadership of the Prime Minister have caused Ethiopia to plunge into a national crisis. The country’s political, economic, and social problems, which have been getting more complicated since he came to power, have now reached a point where it is impossible to cover up the fact that they have turned into a global crisis.
The member of the council asked for a national crisis resolution conference to be prepared to get the country out of this crisis and said that the prime minister should hand over his power to the interim civil administration as neither prosperity nor the parliament can get the country out of the crisis.
Member of the House of People’s Representatives Dessalen Chane (Dr.) also requested to dissolve the House with the permission of the House according to Article 60 Sub-Article 1 of the Constitution and pave the way for new elections.
This is not the first time Prime Minister Abiy has been asked to resign. It will be remembered that in the previous meeting of the House of People’s Representatives, the representative Christian Tadel, asked the Prime Minister to resign from his position.
