Ethiopia Increases Fuel Prices by 10 Birr per Litre at Retail Level
Starting from today, May 8, 2025 (Miyazya 30, 2017 E.C.), at 6:00 p.m., the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration has announced a 10 Birr increase in the retail price of petroleum products. This adjustment is based on global fuel price trends and will affect all fuel stations nationwide.
According to the updated price list:
- Gasoline will now sell at 122.53 Birr per litre
- Kerosene is set at 116.49 Birr per litre
- White Naphtha also at 116.49 Birr per litre
- Light Black Naphtha at 106.77 Birr per litre
- Heavy Black Naphtha at 104.08 Birr per litre
- Aviation Fuel will be sold at 109.56 Birr per litre
Despite the general increase, the Ministry noted some specific downward adjustments. For instance, light black naphtha, which previously retailed at 109.22 Birr per litre, now shows a reduction of 3.55 Birr. Similarly, heavy black naphtha, previously priced at 106.75 Birr, has slightly increased to 106.77 Birr.
Meanwhile, aviation fuel, formerly at 113.20 Birr, has decreased to 109.56 Birr per litre—indicating a cut of over 3.60 Birr.
These adjustments reflect ongoing efforts to align domestic fuel prices with international market shifts while managing local economic impacts.
