Breaking News: Ethiopian Activist Eskinder Nega Released from Custody

Breaking news: Eskinder Nega, a prominent Ethiopian journalist and political activist, has been released from custody after being apprehended by security forces in Bure, Gojam on Saturday, February 25th, 2023.

Eskinder, who is the chairman of the Balderas Party and a fierce advocate for human rights and democracy in Ethiopia, has been arrested and jailed more than 20 times by both the previous and current regimes. His most recent arrest sparked outrage among his supporters, who took to social media to demand his immediate release.

Despite the challenges he has faced, Eskinder has remained committed to promoting press freedom and political reform in Ethiopia. In 2018, he founded the Balderas Party, which gained significant acceptance during the last election, despite losing to the incumbent.
